We had some fun with this group of kiddos today. They were fun and charming and oh, so cute.
We went to Laurelhurst Park for today’s session. It really is a lovely place for photos, and other than the park down the hill, it is our favorite for portrait sessions. It’s big and spacious. And, right now - the lighting is great. The trees are still really green, but the lighting seems a little more golden these days. It really does feel like fall.
Even though the weather is completely unpredictable this time of year, it’s such a great time for pictures. Which reminds me, I need to start planning some pictures of our girls.

Ever wonder what it looks like behind the scenes? This is it. Usually Emma will put forth her best poses while we set up lighting and get the studio ready for the day. Emma loves to have the studio as her stage - she just likes to perform, even though most of the time you see a very quiet Emma. She’s not. This picture is a true reflection of her personality and it really, truly is how things look around here about 15 minutes before you arrive. -Lisa

Brick Lane Studios is joining the folks at Airplay Cafe for a fun Father’s Day concert next Sunday.
These are the details for the event (from the Airplay Cafe website): Sunday, June 21, 2009 Special Father’s Day Family Concert featuring Andy Simon and Paul Sanchez and (JUST ADDED) Canoofle, 5 - 7pm. Andy and Paul play music dads will enjoy and that will entertain the kids, then Canoofle takes the stage with their unique brand of music improvisation. Get ready with some funny dad-related titles. Canoofle will make up a song on the spot! Dads will also enjoy happy hour pricing on beer and wine. And here’s a chance for dad to get a special photo with his favorite little person or little gang. The group can pop into our onsite photo booth for a free portrait sitting from Brick Lane Studios. (Photos will be available for download at a special $15 price—prints also available) $5 per person/$10 per family.

Father’s Day is coming up. We have always believed that the best gifts are those that will last. Not much has the same staying power as a picture. A picture of the children, a picture of mom and baby, a picture of the family dog. In a nice frame for the desk, hung on the wall, mounted on canvas - all of these are great options for a truly lasting gift for dad. Seriously! We have been photographing happy (and sometimes grumpy) toddler dancers and their families for quite a while now - I think it’s been happening since February of 2007 (but don’t quote me, please). Anyhow, Baby Loves Disco is back tomorrow and again in May and we are thrilled to be heading back to the dance floor as well. If you need more info about the event, click here. We met this little guy for the first time in November, when he was about two months old. He was cute then.
He came back to see us last weekend, and well … we didn’t know at the time, but he was actually working on getting cuter.
This is our favorite part of the “Baby’s First Year” and “Mommy and Baby” packages … we get to watch them grow too! It’s so much fun to see how much these little people change from session to session. It’s amazing to see how each little one develops his/her own personality. The other fun part … watching mom and dad pull out every trick to get a smile from their little one - in this case it was dad (and Andy) belting out some James Taylor (and it worked)!

If you sign up for one of our great packages, you can look forward to receiving one of these amazing videos at the end of your baby’s first year. You’ll receive your video slideshow on a DVD with custom cover art, and if you’re interested, we can also provide the digital file (.mp4) so you can email it to your friends and family or embed it on your blog!
We can also put together a video slideshow like this from a single photo session - and it doesn’t just have to be babies and bellies. Kids and families make great subjects for these videos as well. If you’re not one of our package customers, these videos can be purchased a la carte for just $50.

In an effort to sell more big prints to our customers we’ve dramatically lowered our prices on prints over 8×10. For example, you can now get a picture from your session printed at 16×20 for just $85. We’ve compared our prices to what you can find around here and are convinced we’re giving you a great deal. We’re still using the same professional printing service that we’ve been using for years, their quality is excellent and can really be appreciated when you go big! Our printing service also offers many different surface textures and mounting options. If you plan to order a big print, be sure to ask us about these options.
